Ecoegg laundry egg – fragrance-free (70 washes)

A refillable washing egg that can be used instead of detergent: it goes among the clothes in the washing machine drum, and the mineral-based cleaning pellets inside it do the washing. One refill is enough for approx. 70 washes, so a great many detergent bottles can be saved.

There are two kinds of pellets in the egg. The dark pellets, containing tourmaline, help the white pellets to wear down and to maintain their effectiveness; the white, washing soda-based pellets ionise the oxygen molecules in the water, which gives the stain-removing effect. Together the two also soften the water, so using fabric softener is not necessary, and the colour of the clothes does not fade either.

This fragrance-free version contains no fragrances at all, so it is a particularly good choice for baby clothes, washable nappies, sensitive skin and eczema. It contains no chlorine bleach, phosphates, parabens, SLS/SLES or palm oil, and can be rinsed out of the textile completely. The casing is recyclable, BPA-free polypropylene, which is gentle on the washing machine drum. The product is also endorsed by Allergy UK and the National Eczema Society.

First use and refilling:

• Before first use, clean the washing machine with an empty 90 °C wash (with vinegar, citric acid or a machine cleaning tablet).
• Stand the egg with its pointed half facing down on a solid surface, and first pour in the black, then the white pellets.
• When the level of the pellets drops below the white line in the pointed half of the egg, it is time to refill.

Usage:

• Place the washing egg among the clothes in the washing machine drum, then at the end of the wash take it out and leave it to dry.
• Can be used at a maximum of 60 °C; not suitable for boil washing clothes.
• Cannot be used in a tumble dryer (in the case of a washer-dryer, take it out before drying).
• Do not overfill the machine's drum, so that the washing egg can move freely.
• For fragrance, use essential oil or laundry perfume instead of fabric softener.

Prolonged contact with the skin may result in defatting of the skin, which may cause irritation. The substances in the mixture do not meet the criteria for PBT or vPvB classification, and it contains no endocrine disrupting substances.
