HerbaTherapy Bergamot essential oil, bergapten-free (Citrus bergamia FCF) – 10 ml

Its aroma is very similar to orange, with a slightly tangy aftertaste; a cooling, refreshing oil with light, sharp citrus notes and a subtle floral overtone. Bergapten-free (FCF) version: cold pressing is followed by vacuum distillation, so the essential oil contains no furocoumarins and loses its photosensitizing effect – excellent for blends applied to the skin and as a raw material for cosmetics.

Properties: calming, antidepressant, anxiety-relieving, soothes the nervous system (eases fears), refreshing, good for oily skin, fever-reducing, cooling.

What does FCF mean? Furocoumarin removal eliminates bergapten, the molecule responsible for the skin's sensitivity to sunlight – so bergamot FCF can be used in perfumes and body oils without the risk of phototoxicity. In other respects its effects are the same as traditional bergamot essential oil.

Therapeutic suggestions: low mood; anxiety; melancholy; mood-lifting; urinary tract infections.

Professional tip: dilution is necessary when applied to the skin, but it has no photosensitizing effect, so it can be used in summer too. The HerbaTherapy protocol does not recommend using essential oils under 3 months of age.

HerbaTherapy recipes – Oil cleanser for acne-prone skin: 10 ml jojoba oil + 4 drops bergamot FCF + 3 drops lavender essential oil, wiped over the skin after washing your face, followed by a moisturizer. Stress-relieving diffuser blend: 8 drops bergamot + 2 drops ho wood + 2 drops sweet orange. Refreshing room spray: 75 ml water + 35 ml pharmacy-grade alcohol + 20 drops bergamot + 20 drops lemon (shake before use).

Safety instructions and contraindications: Keep out of the reach of children! Store protected from light and heat! Do a skin test before use: apply one drop of the essential oil to the crook of your elbow or the inside of your wrist; if no allergic reaction appears within 24 hours, it can be used safely.
