HerbaTherapy Cypress essential oil (Cupressus sempervirens) – 10 ml

Cypress essential oil is one of the most popular essential oils in aromatherapy, with a fresh, green, resinous character. It is made by steam distillation from the young twigs, needles and cones of the Mediterranean cypress. Traditionally it is regarded as a toning, astringent and balancing oil.

Use: for heavy legs and toning massage (local comfort, freshness); for oily skin and scalp (in tonics, body lotions, hair care); for diffusing (freshening the air, a more focused atmosphere); in deodorizing, natural cosmetic and home fragrance blends.

Emotional balance: the aroma of cypress has a cleansing, collected, stabilizing mood – it can help support inner calm, maintain concentration and ease the feeling of being overwhelmed.

Evidence: toning body massage and oily skin/scalp care are based on traditional use; antioxidant activity and activity influencing microbial processes have been shown in in vitro studies; only limited human data are available so far on stress-relieving and focus-supporting effects.

Recipes: Refreshing foot massage oil – 6 drops cypress + 4 drops grapefruit + 3 drops juniper per 30 ml of carrier oil. Hair oil for oily scalp – 3 drops cypress + 2 drops lavender + 2 drops rosemary per 20 ml of jojoba oil. Concentration-supporting diffuser blend – 2 drops lemon + 2 drops cypress + 1 drop frankincense.

Use: diffusing 3–6 drops in a diffuser; inhalation 1–2 drops on a tissue; massage in a 0.5–2% dilution (per 30 ml of carrier oil: 0.5% = 3 drops, 1% = 6 drops, 2% = 12 drops); in cosmetics at low dilution.

Safe use: always dilute before applying to the skin; may cause irritation on sensitive skin. For children it can be used from age 6, at low dilution. During pregnancy and breastfeeding, consult a professional before use. Do not apply to damaged skin, around the eyes or on mucous membranes. Possible side effects: skin irritation, sensitivity, redness.
