Flu season arrives year after year. UKKO Flu Tea Blend is a blend of carefully selected herbs that tradition knows as a companion for catarrhal, mucus-producing, 'stronger' cold and flu symptoms – cough, mucus, blocked airways. A pleasant, warm drink that can be taken as a course for everyday winter life.
Which tea when? In our experience, for a classic, milder cold with a runny nose our Cold tea is the right choice, while this Flu Tea Blend may be preferred during more catarrhal, mucus-producing symptoms with a cough, thanks to the traditional expectorant, mucus-loosening character of its herbs (linden, ginger).
The blend also contains green tea. The catechins in green tea are also being studied by science: according to epidemiological and some clinical data, regular green tea consumption may be associated with a lower incidence of influenza, although the evidence is not yet conclusive, and much of the research concerns gargling or concentrated extracts.
Important: Flu Tea is a natural, complementary support during the season – it is not a substitute for medical care. If you suspect influenza or have persistent, severe symptoms, consult a doctor.
UKKO Flu Tea Blend is a food product; its use is not a substitute for necessary medical treatment! Not recommended in case of hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients of the tea blend. Results may vary from person to person. The effects of the tea are based on scientific literature on the herbal ingredients and on folk medicine experience – but it's always important to make the best decision for your health!
Effects and benefits:
Flu Tea Blend has traditionally been consumed during catarrhal, mucus-producing cold and flu symptoms.
- A traditional companion for the catarrh season – linden, ginger and the other herbs form a warming tea blend traditionally consumed in the cold, catarrhal flu months
- Sweat-inducing, expectorant, mucus-loosening tradition – linden and ginger are traditionally diaphoretic (sweat-inducing) and expectorant plants that help clear phlegm and mucus – which is why they are favored for more catarrhal symptoms with a cough
- Antioxidant support – thanks to the natural antioxidant content of green tea, rosemary and beetroot
- Green tea – a researched ingredient – the catechins in green tea are also being studied by science in connection with influenza; according to epidemiological data, regular green tea consumption may be associated with a lower incidence of influenza (the evidence is not conclusive)

Directions for use:
Preparing the tea
- Boil water, then let it cool slightly – the ideal temperature is approx. 80°C (this way the green tea won't become bitter).
- For one mug (approx. 500 ml) of tea, 1 heaped teaspoon of tea is enough – increasing the amount does not give better results.
- Place the blend in a tea infuser, pour the water over it, cover and let it steep for 10–15 minutes.
- Delicious on its own; if you sweeten it, preferably use honey.
Recommended consumption
As a course, 2–3 mugs a day – during the cool, catarrhal flu season, mainly during symptoms with cough and mucus. After a maximum of 10 days, take a 2-week break, then you can start again. Due to the caffeine content of green tea, it is less recommended in the evening.
IMPORTANT – caution and contraindications: The blend contains GREEN TEA, so it is NOT caffeine-free – for children, pregnant women, breastfeeding mothers and people sensitive to caffeine only with caution; avoid in the evening. Frequent, high-dose or prolonged consumption of linden flower may rarely put a strain on the heart, so it is not recommended in case of heart disease, and avoid excessive consumption. Chamomile is related to the daisy family (Asteraceae/ragweed) – it may cause a reaction in allergic individuals. The tea has a sweat-inducing effect – drink enough fluids when you have a cold. Do not consume in case of hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients. If you take medication regularly, consult your doctor.
The tea is NOT a substitute for medical care! If you have a high fever, difficulty breathing or severe symptoms, or if you belong to a risk group (elderly, chronically ill, pregnant, infant), consult a doctor – influenza can lead to complications and in some cases requires medical (antiviral) treatment.
