Calendula has been used since antiquity to relieve many complaints, and in modern phytotherapy it is known mainly for its traditional effects on the skin and oral mucosa.

Calendula's traditional use as recognized by the EMA: traditional support for mild skin inflammation and the healing of minor wounds, and care of the mouth and throat mucosa (as a gargle). Tradition also associates it with mild, natural support of the gastrointestinal system and bile function.

100% natural marigold (calendula) tea in a 15-gram pack. Free from additives.

Effects and benefits:

Active compounds

Flavonoids (e.g. isoquercitrin, hyperoside), carotenoids (lutein, β-carotene, zeaxanthin), triterpene saponins (e.g. faradiol derivatives), essential oils, mucilage, vitamin E, coumarins.

External use – the best documented

  • Supports skin regeneration – traditionally used to support mild skin inflammation and the healing of minor wounds (EMA traditional use)
  • Mild skin complaints – traditionally as a companion for minor skin injuries, pressure sores and sunburn
  • Mouth and throat rinse – traditionally used to care for the mouth and throat mucosa, for rinsing and gargling (EMA traditional use)

Internal use – traditional

  • Traditional digestive support – tradition associates it with mild support of the gastrointestinal system and bile function
  • Antioxidant – through its flavonoids and carotenoids, it contributes to the protection of cells

Responsible herbal use: we recommend calendula tea primarily according to its traditional uses, for prevention and as a supplement – not as a substitute for medicine. External use and use as a mouth/throat rinse are the best documented. In case of existing, persistent or more severe complaints, illness or medication, consult your doctor.

Directions for use:

Preparing the tea

  • Pour 250 ml of boiling water over 1 teaspoon (approx. 1–1.5 g) of dried calendula.
  • Cover, let it steep for 10–15 minutes, then strain.
  • 1–2 cups a day, as a course, as support.

External use

A lukewarm rinse, compress or gargle made from the tea is traditionally also suitable for caring for the oral mucosa and the skin.

IMPORTANT – contraindications: Internal consumption of calendula (as a tea) is NOT recommended during pregnancy! Calendula is traditionally an emmenagogue (uterine-contracting) plant that could theoretically trigger uterine contractions – so it should be avoided during pregnancy. During breastfeeding only on medical advice. Calendula is related to the daisy family (Asteraceae / ragweed, chamomile), so it may cause a reaction in allergic individuals. Do not consume in case of known hypersensitivity.

UKKO Marigold Tea is a food product; its use is not a substitute for medical treatment! If you take medication regularly, are undergoing long-term medical treatment or are breastfeeding, ask your doctor or pharmacist before use. In case of longer, higher-dose use or persistent complaints, also consult a professional.
